6th Grade Concepts - (each concept will have a summative final test)

• Scientific Process and Engineering Cycle - Learning to think and behave like scientists and engineers.
• Full Year Vocabulary Pre-Test
• Sci. & Eng. Progress Sheet
• Force and Motion - The study and exploration of the forces at work in our universe. A large focus is on the measurement and visual representation of motion and the magnitude of different forces.
• Force and Motion Progress Sheet
• Matter - The study the chemical and physical properties of the atoms and molecules all around us. Identifying different ways matter can change, and what is causing those changes to happen.
• Matter Progress Sheet

• Energy and Waves - The study of different types of energy and energy transfer, the properties of waves, specifically focusing on sounds and light.

• Waves Progress Sheet - (will be linked before 2nd semester)

The scientific process and engineering cycle questions will be mixed in throughout the year. There will be quizzes and smaller comprehension checks throughout each unit. 

It is very important to us here at Highview for the grade parents and students see to reflect what the student knows about the standards being taught. Students will be given feedback during the learning process, but the grading will only happen after the learning has taken place.
